the store-approved salad bar plate

Some corn.

This place is what’s supposed to be Pizza Hut.

Except that the salad bar charges you for plates (2500 won per plate), one table’s only supposed to get one plate (4 people per table), and the tiny plate (approximately 6″/15cm) they give you for the salad bar is the only plate you’re allowed to use to get stuff from the salad bar. (See above picture. Also note the plate at the top of the picture with the decorations — that plate is the wrong plate and using it results in a rush of waitresses all gathering to telling you you’re using the wrong plate, ohs noes! You must not use that plate!)

At the table, which seats 4, there are only enough cutlery and napkins for exactly 4 people — that is, there are 4 knives, 4 forks, and 4 small napkins (each only about 3″x3″/8cm x 8xm) and no more. God help you should you spill something or decided that the knife you used to cut your pizza, now all covered in melted cheese, is not the knife you want to use to cut the 3 pieces of fruit you managed to fit onto the one salad bar plate.

None of this, of course, is a problem if you go to Pizza Hut alone (or with a friend whose taste in food isn’t too dissimilar to yours), but when you go with 3 other people, all of whom like different things at the salad bar, all of whom prefer different kinds of dressing, well, it makes for a lot of compromise and travel between table and bar. (Mmm, nothing tastier than grapes and corn dipped in Italian dressing and smeared with melted cheddar.)

Is this part of some kind of environmentally friendly, water saving anti-obesity campaign?
